Claim Victory in your Heart.

« on: May 17 '09, 15:39:14 »

Hi everyone I'm the n00b I joined just yesterday and to celebrate I thought I would share some fanart of the lovely comic featured here the first one is my very first piece of fanart of Foxeye I made alot of mistakes  and its still just a sketch but I'm liking how its turning out.
and the second one is my most recent WIP also still very sketchy but its coming along nicely anyway without further ado I hope you like what you see

EDIT: are these to big? Should I resize them?

Ok, that second picture is just unbearably cute -- I think they're just great! Thank you for sharing them with us.

Also, welcome aboard the Jungle Fire boards. It's a little quiet here, and the comic itself is going a little slow these days, but it is nice to see a new member enter with such a splash Smiley

Also, the pictures are sized just fine.

That. Is. The CUTEST.  I'm at a loss for words, tbh.  I'm in love with this, and your stylized way of drawing the little varmints.

Thank you thank you thank you!

Say, you don't have any objections to me putting these in the JF gallery? Or did you want to do any additional work on them first?

Thankyou I'm glad that you both like them your characters are a great deal of fun to draw and I hope to do some more fanart of them in the future, though besides getting the group picture colored the picture of the Iss'avali character is just calling to me in a major way I must at least sketch him though in all likely hood he will get colored as well because Blue-ish skin is just to much fun to pass up. so I was wondering if you could tell me a little about what his personality is like that will help me get a better grasp on how I want to draw him...if its okay with you two.
anyway I hope to hear from you soon
also I'm very glad that I have had to opportunity to read the comic and join the forum I'm very happy to be here.
thankyou for letting me know that the picture sizing was alright.

I have no objection to you putting them in the jungle fire gallery as is, I am working on getting the group picture colored so I'll be posting that soon too.

Well, actually, we sorta decided that we wanted a different appearance for that character. So you are free to inject any personality you like, although I understand if you aren't as interested in drawing a general iss'avali bloke. (If you haven't seen it already, there is at least a race page for them: http://www.junglefire.com/races.php?RaceContent=issavali)

X3 yay thanks for the link! I hadn't had a chance see that page and believe me it gave me even more ideas than I had before..i think it might be the bluish grey skin..so yes you will be seeing a random Iss'avali if not lots of them  *tries to sort through all the new ideas that have been generated* X3

The colored version... I'm not sure if I quite like the mix of colored pencil and markers in this pic but well I guess I know better for next time ^^;

We so don't deserve any art this awesome, what with the crawling pace of the comic. Thank you for the beautiful picture, and for the inspirational kick in the rump.

You Totally deserve it! the comic is awesome and in my oppinion needs more fanart for it speaking of which I have more to post X3  Yay for inspirational kicks in the rump and any other...mehemahema (no makona!) scuse the moment of language malfunction, anyway I look forward to seeing what you are inspired to draw.

@Martilena: Thankyou I wasn't sure that I would be able to do it with markers but it turned out okay.

and now for the new piece of Fanart, the story that led to this, I was babysitting for my sister today and you know how kids can sleep just about anywhere well thats how this pic came about..

This scan doesn't do the original justice...the colors are so much more vibrant IRL!   *hug*

Scanning in the vii/iri doodles you did as well, so others can enjoy them as well.

Yay Thankyou Jerelyn I'm glad that you like  it,  I agree the scan really doesn't do it justice at all.

and here are the Iss'Avali Twins that I have been working on, Chiss in the upper corner is the younger twin who has more common sense so he got to be captain,  he only wears his hair like that while out to see. and Nei'she   the first mate I'm working on the other crew members

I cannot express how awesome it is to have someone create fan characters in  world you've made...I feel a bit like that grouchy old dude that some little kid has just run up to and given a hug to...I sorta sit there with a stunned look on my face (for several days), not quite able to say anything remotely close to what I'm feeling.

{{{{{{{{{{hug}}}}}}}}}}

(Kael has been out of state all week on business, just got back last night, so I'll make sure he sees this soon.)

Oh, and for others, these are the Vii and Iri she drew on the corners of a letter:

What she said Smiley

It's an awesome pic, and the context is all the more awesome Smiley

The cap'n embodies pretty well many of the qualities we intended for the Iss'avali: elven, sort of halfway between human features and Elfquest elf features. It's slightly harder to get a sense of the sideways-dude, but it's there too.

@Foxeye: *hug* thankyou for letting me create fancharacters in your world its alot of fun and I'm really looking forward to drawing the rest of the crew and more pics of these two of course.   YAY its fun to make your own stationary though I can now see the mistakes I made while drawing them *resolves to do better on the next picture of them) P.S I Don't think I could see you as a grouchy old anything more like an awesome Amazing Mentor.

@ Kael: I'm glad you approve I'm still ironing out the their overall appearances but I'm trying to keep it within what has been done in the comic the overall feel I get from that, and I'm sure they will change some as my skills improve.

Anyway Thank you Both so very much for letting me draw fan characters based in your universe its so much fun and makes me really happy to be able to do it Smiley

YAY More members of the Crew! I drew this last month and then set it aside on one of my Clip boards before I could scan it *bleh* but I finally found it again and here they are,
Upper left Corner is Flynn he is the Helmsman He is Human
Upper Right corner is Draise she is the ships Doctor and that Brings one to her Sister on the lower left Corner
I'm still not sure about her name I'm sort of leaning towards Jet'ame but still haven't decided she is the Navigator and she also makes maps. Also human
and in the lower Right corner is the Ships Galley master Trill, He is fairly  easy going though watch out if you get into supplies without his permission, he is Iss'Avali

I was working on these last night and decide to post a Work in Progress Page as well
These two are Both Iss'Avali The Young Woman is Falkyan she is from another Clan and Betrothed to Chiss She has joined him on this Voyage to see if they will be compatible, her Favorite hobby is sewing so me thinks the Crew will be getting some new clothes, she also has a Fondness for colors even if it is impractical.
The older Gentle man on the Right is Grimm, He recently lost his  eye and while its healing he will be over seeing the Twin's First Voyage on their new ship, He keeps his hair long on top and braided just in case he has to act as emergency captain.

It's so awesome that you are coming up with a whole ship's crew!  Oh my... Trill reminds me of Bender from Breakfast club, heee. ^_^

I gotta be honest, though, I think your humans are a bit on the pretty-and-young side to be human sailors. Sad  Just like in this world, the elements they are subjected to cause premature wrinkling and the salt makes hair pretty unhappy. Iss'Avali skin recovers pretty well, but even their hair doesn't care for the abuse it endures, hence why it's usually kept short.

That aside, Flynn is exceptionally pretty...he'd make a marvelous Araye'Avali.  Hmm!

Would an Araye'Avali become a Sailor? I wasn't sure if they would be likely to or not.

I like drawing them as I do I think of their back stories and how they came to end up on the ship as part of the crew

I think an Araye'Avali would be intrigued by the adventure of being on a ship, but they would eventually give up when they realized the iss'avali life is more often about trade.
