I've several sketches of my various characters, and I figure I'll get around to a couple more of 'em eventually, so I'm'a making a thread for them! Starting out with Pretty_Lady_with_vacant_expression_01, my water elementalist. I wanted an excuse to try out cell shading (actually, trying out the workflow that the Inverloch-lady uses...it caught my interest). I seriously need to get cleaner with my edges if I'm going to try cell shading for real. I can't decide if I prefer it with or without the over-use of highlights on the skin. I think for this style it might be nice to leave most of the skin less "shiny", and it guides the eye better to the face/eyes but...oh...I do so love my over-shiny skin. Opinions? (She's nekkid cuz I haven't yet decided what armor I want to put her in. Not high level enough to get the interesting stuff, heee!)

I like the shiney parts on her too! Yay for shiney! Esp. on her body, very yummy.
I keep almost picking up that game just to play with the characters. But no time, no time. Alas!
So I will watch your characters instead! =D

Unless you're painting with single-cell organisms, I believe it's cel shading (Yeah yeah I know it's short for celluloid, but I'm nitpicky ) I like it! Personally I like the second less-shiny version better. There's still shiny, but the skin looks more smooth and warm rather than unnaturally glossy like so many people shoot for. I'm of the opinion that more layers of depth in shading are always a good thing, and when it comes to the shiny, make it subtle and effective. Like back-lighting Always love that. I agree though that smoother edges are better The shading on the shouldery area in particular could probably use some touching up, though less so if you're adding clothes later.

Avrad Dal being inspirational. Jhiri Lin being...I'm not sure. It's something between "my pretty boy, hands off" and "if you tell him he's not a good leader I'll eviscerate you". Definitely want to do more with this. Darned scanner cut their toes off.

Oh, you mean George? He's still around and adventuring, though not entirely by choice. The trophy wife traded up and ran away with George's money. So now George is hanging out with his cousin Biff, and trying to learn the ropes.

Fiiiinally colored this picture. Feel like I'm getting warmed up a bit. Inks in Alias Sketchbook Pro and Painter, and colors in Photoshop, Alias, and Painter (trying to relearn their various strengths).

No artistic reason...I just play almost exclusively with a dagger build with Jhiri Lin these days.
