I was planning, maaany moons ago, to do a fan drawing of M'jou for Corey, but I never found time for it. And then Serenity appeared in the storyline, and I just fell in love with her.  So I figured I'd put 'em together. Then I was like "wtheck, Candy is fun too, we'll put her in and make it a sort of 'women in reflex's life" sort of thing". So, yeah. 

And I haven't done a wip and asked for feedback/crits in...ages. So I figured...since this one is gonna take me a while what with the comic and a desire to have this one be more than just a speed drawing, I'd just start what will likely be my longest wip ever.  

Which is to say, no, this isn't going to be done in time for the Reflex fanart contest, but that's ok, since I started it because I like the comic and characters, not because I wanna be in a contest.   

So, um, yeah, M'jou looks like a mutant frog in this. Forgive her for it isn't her fault.  I'm just playing around with colors right now, and balance.  Not easy for folks to crit, but...

...stuff to crit:

- color balance (yeah, I know, not supposed to work on white  )
- composition
- character problems (that's for Breccia and Corey to say...like height, outfits, temperment...fwiw m'jou is not supposed to look so devious...and I know Candy's chain doesn't show cleavage, but with her in that position it just BEGS for cleavage)

Wow.

Um. I'm not an artist, so commentary on composition and such is hard for me... but...

It seems to balance well, with the way it's set up. Colourwise, M'jou is supposed to be a pale sky blue (powder blue?) which might not balance well with Serenity's robes. She does have orange and white markings, though, like Reflex's circles. That's where he gets them from. Her red to balance Candie's red will work well, I think.

Height wise... (frowns) Female frogloks are bigger than male, and Serenity is supposed to be small for her age.  So M'jou would be larger. I'm not sure how that would work with the composition, though.

I'd need Corey's input on that too. But that's what pops to mind.

But otherwise.. (goes back to gawking) I LOVE Serenity! Her face is wonderful!  And yes, show cleavage. Candie begs cleavage.

Ohhh, that I didn't know!  I wrote down that Serenity is 4'7", guessed that candie is 5'10" based on how she compares to the height of the men, and saw reflex was 3'5" when slouching. I just sort put M'jou as the same as reflex. Fortunately there's room in the composition to make her taller, since there's that gap between her and Candy. In fact, that might be an improvement.

I'd need Corey's input on that too.

Aye, I'm hoping he'll show his head eventually.

^_^  Only took me like...a year?..to get around to starting it.  Almost to the day.    I still have the photographs you sent me of the frog that M'jou is based on.

Lets see, I just woke up here and I dont know the characters, but! =p

Everything looks pretty good to me first off, however- I do really love the circle based comp. youve got going on, but it rather "stops" at the blue robed girl.

If you could have a few more "strands" of the blondes hair pointing down towards the blue robed girl, and then some of her ribbons following "the flow" and (if its within the character) maybe even her robe arm "ends" falling towards the Froglok, it would help solidify the circle.  Then the spell effects would lead to the hair would lead to the ribbons, would lead ot the robe, would lead to the spell effects. Tada!

I see what you mean about the circle stopping at her.  I think the circle was accidental *cough*, but now that you pointed it out...hmmm...do I *want* a balanced circle, or I do want her to seem like a point of still calm :zen in the midst of the flow and movement of the other two. Hmm...

Yes. But what you don't know (we haven't come out and stated it, but both Corey and I have discussed it) is that Reflex himself is a 'runt.'

He was ...err... essentially, a 'preemie', and is thus a little smaller than most froglok males.  This only adds to his natural agility, and he's grown since, and certainly has built up his strength.... but when we see another froglok with him in comparison, you'll see the size difference.

It's a long way in the future, but you'll get to see that comparison eventually.  (impish smile)

Been finding a few spare moments here and there for this. More detail work on Serenity and I picked colors for the bg. I hadn't envisioned pastels at the beginning...it didn't seem fitting...but nothing else I tried clicked as well for me.  Well, I suppose they are females after all, and Candy is rather girly for a bringer of death and corruption.

1, thanks for the birthday wishes, they still mean something even though I just saw them today.  >.<

2, I like it so far, I've already told you over IM things I think, but I really love how serenity is coming out.  That's a great mouth you have going on there.  Cute.  ^^

Some more pecking away at this one.  I warmed up Serenity's skin tone a little and just tried to combat the shmoo-effect.  Balls are a little oddly positioned and her eyes are a tad unfocused (but maybe that's a good thing? Must ponder that), but it's creeping closer.

More detail/etc on Serenity and the beginnings of a face for evil-crazy lady.    She doesn't look crazy or evil enough yet, but it's a start.

A bit o' work on the chainmail and chest region.  I'm somewhat happy with the effect of the chainmail, but I have this feeling that I can do better.
